Does Penis Size Matter?

Simply put, penis size has nothing to do with sexual satisfaction or manliness. Yet it’s difficult to convince many men that this is so.

I keep hearing that size doesn’t matter to women, when it comes to their partner’s penis. That just sounds like an effort to spare a man’s feelings. I know the truth is out there — what do women really want, sizewise? penis size has been mistakenly equated with sexual prowess in our culture. Interestingly, this mistake is made by men more often than women.

Many myths exist about the relationship between penis size and other parts of a man’s body including feet, nose and fingers. Jokes about penis size abound needlessly because, simply put, size has nothing to do with sexual satisfaction or manliness. Yet it’s difficult to convince many men that this is so.

Why the Myths Persist

Some people have thought that large penises are more psychologically arousing than smaller penises. One study took a look at this idea and found that size didn’t matter. Although the male and female subjects in the study were clearly aroused by the erotic stories they were given to read, there was no relationship between the degree of arousal and the size of the penises described in the stories.

Men can convince themselves of the sexual importance of large penises by tending toward sexual partners who are highly attracted to penises of a certain dimension. While there’s no point in arguing with someone’s turn-on, I’ve always been amazed at the wide cultural acceptance of this tyranny of size.

The Facts

Several things are often forgotten when it comes to heterosexual penile-vaginal intercourse.

First, the vagina is a very elastic environment through which a baby can pass, yet it’s one that easily retains a tampon. In other words, it snugly accommodates the entity it surrounds.

Second, men and women give the vagina way more credit for sensitivity than is reasonable. The most sensitive part of the vagina is the part that is closest to the outside of a woman’s body. Four inches will cover that.

Minor surgery without anesthetic can be conducted on the inner part of a woman’s vagina without discomfort. That’s a big clue about just how much sensation women have deep inside where large penises are supposed to reach.

Third, about three-quarters of women don’t reach orgasm by intercourse unless they have simultaneous clitoral stimulation - no matter what the size of the inserting body part.

The Locker Room Tyranny

Many men feel quite content with the size of their penis when erect, but are uncomfortable when it’s flaccid in places like the locker room.

Some of a man’s anxiety might be relieved if he knew the following: penises that appear small when flaccid grow a great deal more in size when erect than those that are larger when flaccid.

Many men would also feel less concerned about locker room impressions if they understood that just as a man’s sense of smell or his eyesight are not dependent on the size of his nose and eyes, neither is his sexual capacity based on the size of his genitals.

Still Bothered?

Here’s a tip to maximize flaccid penis size. In a locker room setting, take a hot shower. A warm body temperature will cause a man’s penis to be about as large as it can be in an unaroused state. So don’t finish off showers with a cold rinse. That will draw both the penis and testicles up close to the body for warmth, making them appear smaller.

Also, recognize that some men concerned about their penis size may be functioning under old psychological issues that are needlessly guiding their way of thinking. In that regard, therapy can be very helpful, especially if they have feelings they’d like to change.

Wealth matters to some people and not so much to others. Athletic ability can be crucial to some and ignored by most. To some, a large penis suggests a kind of strength that is attractive to them. But the meaning they give to it is just that - their meaning.
